Virtual Check-In Approach
RA staff coordinate and track weekly check-ins between students and their RA Mentors.
Video links are provided to each of our 100+ Elementary, Middle and High School students. Students are able to use their school laptops or cell phones (or parents phone) to join in on the video check-in!
During the call’s mentors are generally check in with their mentee, share feedback sent from the mentee’s teachers regarding their online learning progress, and assess any needs the student might have - especially in terms of accessing online learning curriculum.
Mentors also connect with their mentee’s family during the video check-in. During this time, mentors share out new resources available to the family and determine if the family has a need to be connected with any vital services

Synopsis Reports
After weekly video/phone calls, mentors write-up a short synopsis report to share with the mentee’s family, teachers, and the RA staff
Mentor report any immediate needs directly to RA staff who then follow up with family to connect them with the appropriate provider
Screenshots of virtual check-ins are included in synopsis reports so families and teachers can see the hopeful faces of the students and mentors!

Virtual Workouts and Small Group Outings
Students, mentors and event some family members are virtually joining in on Rainier Athletes staff led, bi-weekly, full circuit workout - including push-ups, triceps dips, squats, burpees, and more! Every week, RA staff schedules some sort of physical activity, like a hike or kick around, with a group of elementary, middle or high school students.
