HISTORY

2013

RA kicked off our pilot season with three students from Lake Hills Elementary in Bellevue, WA. The goal was simple: use sports and mentorship to close a growing opportunity gap. Equipped with a $1,000 seed donation, Founder and Executive Director Jesse Franklin enrolled the students in Little League and served as the program’s first mentor.

2016

RA achieved 501c3 status, formed an independent Board of Directors, and hired our first two employees.

2020

RA supported students during the pandemic through virtual check-ins and workouts, retaining human connection despite generational peaks of loneliness and anxiety. RA was one of the first community partners allowed back in school buildings when they re-opened.

2022

RA matched 120 students across 15 schools with mentors, expanded our community of stakeholders to over 1,000 individuals, and tripled the size of our Board of Directors.

RA began piloting extracurricular partnerships beyond sports to include activities like theater, music, and engineering.
